Rajeev is a Google Arts & Culture featured Calligraphy Master and TEDx speaker.
He creates art in different Indian scripts including English. Conveying more than what one reads, his paintings are ideas of philosophy that reflect the actual meaning and story behind a particular word/verse/shlokas. Rajeev has been unravelling our glorious past through his art. Brevity is the key. With one word, Rajeev unfolds an entire epic. As a written word, a thought can be shared with the world in two ways, books and calligraphy art. Rajeev has chosen the latter. His calligraphy works provide an ideal medium to share a thought as the rendition makes it ‘less to read’, ‘more to feel’ and ‘pleasing to look at’.
Rajeev has had the honour of representing India at various international platforms such as at UNESCO, Paris; ‘India by the Nile’ festival in Egypt; ‘Symbols & Scripts’- Art festival at Indian Heritage Centre, Singapore.
The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) had dedicated its 2018 Festival to India as the ‘Country of Honour’. Rajeev was invited by ADMAF to create calligraphic works in the UAE, together with a UAE calligraphy artist. His artworks now adorn the walls of the Emirates Palace.
Rajeev has held various solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in India and abroad.
Rajeev has also been commissioned for bespoke projects by various Corporates , Business houses and private residences.
His works are in the collection at the Taj Hotel, National Manuscript Mission, RADO Switzerland, Late Khushwant Singh, Ginger Hotels, Indian Embassies in Egypt & U.A.E, LULU International Exchange, U.A.E, HSBC Bank, Dastkari Haat Samiti, ADMAF, U.A.E, INTACH, IGNCA and many other institutions and private collections all over the world.
Rajeev’s works show his versatility in treatment of his subject, colors, texture, media and his tools. Rajeev experments with various medium. The pens, kalams and nibs are handmade exclusively for each piece while the inks and colours are manually prepared.
As a written word, a thought can be shared with the world in two ways, books and calligraphy art. Rajeev has chosen the later. His calligraphy works provide an ideal medium to share a thought as the rendition makes it ‘less to read’, ‘more to feel’ and ‘pleasing to look at’.
